Eli Manning is the Sporting News Pro Athlete of the Year

Sporting News has Eli Manning as the Pro Athlete of the Year!! Hooray and Congrats!! Also, good luck tonight against the Carolina Panthers on NBC. It will be interesting to see how the New York Giants Coach, Tom Coughlin manages the game. We know he'll be shooting for the bye. I'm sure he knows some of his key players could use the rest especially Brandon Jacobs.

We would like to see the NY Giants get on a roll before the playoffs. It seemed last year they really benefited from the momentum. Let's hope if they do win out that they stay focused and ready. Bye weeks can be a doubled edged sword.

Ok, back to the couch wearing my Eli Manning Jersey.

Now I know why I love to listen to the Radio call of the game. NBC pointed out another example of trying to draw in the "casual fan" with the talk off the off the field junk all game. Do we even question their motives? NBC made it apparent with Sunday night’s broadcast with Romo's Dallas Cowboys and Eli Mannings's New York Giants from Texas Stadium. How many times have you seen the love triangle shot of Tony Romo, Jason Witten and Terrell Owens. This following the circus in New York with you know who. The best thing about the Media Blitz has to be the post game hats of Romo and Owens. Who had the nerdiest hat? Did they plan that? Is Jessica Simpson dressing Tony?

The Hot Colts could deliver Eli Manning vs. Peyton Manning

The Indianapolis Colts are hot. They have won four in a row, they have a fairly week schedule left. They have the playoffs in their sights. And with due respect to the Brett Favre and his new home with the New York Jets, a Eli Manning vs. Peyton Manning Super Bowl is actually plasuable. I can't wait. Could you imagine? We love the Mannings here at eli-manning.com, but think about the over exposure of everything non-football about the Mannings. It would get out of control.

Eli Manning on Plaxico Burress Double Teams

Eli Manning already knows its going to happen even before he leaves the Giants huddle. The oposing defense will figure out were Plaxico Burress' is lining up and shift another guy to that side. Double teams do wonders to shift the balance in your favor. I hope Plaxico realizes that how valuable this is even though it won't show on the stats sheet.

Real sports fans understand what this can do for a team. For the older readers, do you remember Dan Hampton from the 1985 Chicago Bears as well as all throughout the rest of the 1980's? Many consider him the most valuable player on that legendary 46 defense because of the double teams he would draw on every play. Of course they he didn't get as much press or credit as other members of that defense at the time, but you should go back and watch some tapes. Oh yeah, BTW, that was the defense that sacked Eli Manning's Dad, Archie Manning, 11 times in one game. Ouch!!

NY Giants Get No Respect at 2nd, 3nd, and 4th

The New York Giants are the defending Super Bowl champions led by all star Quarterback Eli Manning. Tonight the defend their title by starting the season against the Washington Redskins. How is is possible that they are not predicted to take their division, let alone second. Look at where the New York Giants are ranked. Third!! Below the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. We'll be breaking out our Eli Manning Jerseys tonight to help support our team to prove otherwise.

Back to the rankings at Pro Football Weekly. How in tar nation are the Philadelphia Eagles ranked #1 in the division by some of their editors? Are they trying something to win a bet? Is it based in Phily? Are they from Phily?

Eli Manning and Brett Farve have New York Fans Hyped

In a preseason New York match up game dominated by defense, Eli Manning and Brett Farve weren't really the major deciding factors, but they were sure the focal points. You could tell just by the timing of the camera flashes.

Eli Manning has come into his own. The Superbowl win last year helped him step out of Peyton's shadow, and he is gunning to make his mark as one of the top young NFL Quarterbacks. He needs a solid year to prove to everyone that last year was not a random fluke.

Then on the other side of town you have Brett Farve. Could this guy get any more press? The most famous quarterback the Jets have seen since the likes of Broadway Joe Namath. The New York fan microscope has been turned on, and Farve showed flashes of the show he'll be putting on this year. I just hope Brett doesn't go back to the pills and the bottle after a New York press lashing. In any event, Suzie Kobler better be on her toes.

Any way you cut it, it's going to be an exciting year. I bet your going to see a lot more people have a New York Quarterback on their fantasy football teams this year. Also, I bet the best selling jersey this year will come from New York.

Eli Manning hasn't played ball on TV since he was the king of the world. The stakes aren't even close as high. As this Detriot Lions - New York Giants game is just a preseason semi-battle. But he really wants to set the tone for the season or at least work out the kinks. Is the pressure greater this year? You bet. It's ok he's a Manning.

David Carr is Gunning to be Eli Mannings Backup

David Carr is looking to be the backup for Eli Manning this season on the New York Giants.
Carr, the former #1 draft pick, hasn't had the success in the NFL that you would have liked to seen from someone taken first overall. He is actually most recognized by how many sacks he has taken over his career. Including the year that started them all when he had a 76 as a rookie. You have to think of what would have been if he would have gone to a different team from the start. Most people forget that his first NFL practice was the entire team's first practice. He was selected by an expansion team the Houston Texans.
It would be really nice to see him find a place as a backup for Eli. Lets hope he gets healthy.

Eli Manning Hosting Golf Benefit

Eli Manning is going to be hosting the Guiding Eyes for the Blind Golf Classic for the second year in a row on June 22-23. The event helps fund a school for guide dogs. With Eli and the Giants' recent success, the tournament is getting more attention this year, which will increase the donations it receives. In response to hearing that Manning said "To know that it's improved so far this year because of the Giants' success this past season, adding a new course and the recognition is getting out and bringing more revenue for the school - that just means more people will be able to get guide dogs and get help and make their life a little easier."

The event will be held in Yorktown in late June and the turnout is expected to be twice that of last year.
